The big one, the rich task
'Becoming an expert'
We will investigate key places around the world where animals are in danger, as a class; this will be the start of our ongoing project, where you will be working in groups, and researching one animal of your groups choice within a designated geographic region of the world; you will then present your findings to the class in a format of your choice at the conclusion of the iQuest. Just so that you know, you will be allocated class time over the next few weeks to continue work on your presentation.
Introduction:
-
For this task you will be working in the same group of 4 you worked in for Task 2.
-
Each group has been allocated a zone, listed on the right hand side. Look at your zone together.
-
This iQuest has selected just four endangered animals in each zone.
-
As a group, choose one animal from your zone to look at more closely.
-
You are going to become a group of experts, and report back to the class with a presentation about this animal at the end of this iQuest. You can choose to present your material in a method of your choice. For example: by a powerpoint presentation, a movie, a news report, or by talking in front of the class. Incorporating technology into your presentation is a MUST!
So, let's have a look at the rubrics.
On the right hand side there are two rubrics for you to look at so you know exactly what needs to be included in your presentation. One is a teacher marking rubric, and the other is for the peer assessment which will take place during your presentation.
You need to work together collaboratively as a team and make sure that you listen to each other’s opinions.
Start by allocating roles and responsibilities for each member of the group.
Look at the rubric together and try to plan out your presentation accordingly. Some things in the rubric are things we have not looked at yet, but will look at over the next two tasks.
Work hard and have fun. There is a lot to do so you had better get started!
